Let me tell the story of what happened to panchayatan Annapurna mandir and vigrah in Kashi Vishwanath temple complex
Look at picture 1: this is the pre corridor picture of the temple complex
See The temple marked in red ? That’s the panchayatan Annapurna temple ..
What happened to ??
See pic 2 (clockwise) … 300 year old history reduced to rubbles..it was bulldozed !
And what happened to the ancient vihara? See pic 3 & 4 for it ..
As per locals , Hindu labourers had refused to remove it, so they bought one M labour who is seen drilling her out..
Don’t know where this Vigrah of Annapurna Mata is now..
Also, all other 3 panchayatN temples u see in the pic were demolished as well.

- one that came from canada, was never the “original” from this panchayatan shrine (within KV).
- The Canada Annapurna was a small vigraha stolen from another shrine by an American in early 1900 from an open shrine near the ghat, like there are many. Repeat: this was not the “original” of Vishwanath temple panchayatan as popularly claimed by BJP supporters
- Panchayatan Annapurna vigraha of Vishwanath temple was never ever “stolen” - it was “broken” by Corridor project. One that KV corridor broke in 2020 was worshipped uninterrupted since it was installed in 1700s.
- The Shringeri Shankaracharya Swami did *not* consecrate this canada Vigraha contrary to your claim. Yogi ji did.
- Shringeri Shankaracharya installed a different Annapurna Vigraha in 2025 that his Matha got made - a different vigraha, replacing an older one consecrated earlier by his paramaguru, because the old one got desecrated by corridor (These are two different Annapurna shrines, not counting a third one on Ganga bank from where the Canada one was stolen.)
- unnecessary credits being given to individuals who were not involved in the recovery of the Canada vigraha. But I will not open that chapter.
