Yes it is. “It’s a bummer to have people occupying such a wonderful space that don’t appreciate its history or understand its importance.” - Joe Talbot https://t.co/kk7ffdXIqK #savethecastro
Homeowner on Hartford wrong Castro line only wraps around block once or twice a year. Already seen the lines around block this year during the one day @SFFILM was at the Castro (shown here), during @CAAM & last night & it is sold out again Friday. #CastroTheatre #SaveTheCastro
One of many theaters with seats with music @AnitaMonga7 (who the Nassers fired in 2004) has posted @savethecastro #savethecastro #castrotheatre https://t.co/mF5y79X6JJ
The movie-palace Theatre at the Ace Hotel started in the silent era and is now a state-of-the-art venue for rock concerts, dance performance, comedy, and movies. They successfully do it all with seats. If Los Angeles can, why not San Francisco! # SavetheCastro
The first person in public comment to oppose Another Planet asked Frameline & everyone to watch this @SaveTheCastro video by @EddieMuller (and now an APE supporter mentions going to #NoirCity which is unlikely to return from Oakland if this passes) #castrotheatre #savethecastro
The #CastroTheatre @sfplanning hearing is streaming @sfgovtv & @apeconcerts lied that there was robust community outreach (though there has been a lot of lobbying) Now @savethecastro & other opponents are getting 3 minutes each https://t.co/CnSykP3tQt #savethecastro
There were more people from @SaveTheCastro asking people to write, call or comment in person Thursday & @SisterRoma supported https://t.co/A3rFqvfY6U #SaveTheCastro #CastroTheatre
Also noted many of the pro APE speakers are there for the first time which means @davidperrysf [who has blocked many who’ve been critical of APE] may finally be earning his hefty salary #castrotheatre #savethecastro
If APE really cared about the community, it "wouldn't be holding it hostage," a speaker says. If supervisors don't vote to keep the seats, you might as well forget the whole interior landmarking, because it would be "meaningless."
Film programmers & film festivals have said they need all 1,400 seats to be able to support their films & programs. Also there has been no estimate of how much APE will charge to move fewer seats in & out. #savetheCastro #castrotheatre #savetheseats
Commenter says APE just wants to remove some 200 seats out of 1,400, "hardly a diminution."
A representative of the Castro Merchants Association says it doesn't endorse APE's plans because, in part, it hasn't negotiated in good faith with the group.
The Castro is item 6. Now on 2 & 3. Hearing is streaming @sfgovtv https://t.co/1T48QXrCdV #savetheCastro #CastroTheatre
The Land Use and Transportation Committee will meet to discuss the future of the Castro Theatre on Mon. March 13. Help us encourage them to #SavetheCastro by sending new letters to committee members: Aaron Peskin, Myrna Melgar and Dean Preston.
@MichaelPetrelis @SFFILM @Castro_Theatre @apeconcerts @SaveTheCastro @Hoodline @SFist @SFHeritage @BRfilmsAllen @byabartlett @SFMarMendoza @48hills @RebeccaSolnit @mikeolcese @amusedmuse @LeeHepner @KQEDnews @dpna @Wagnerian There is nothing on the schedule yet https://t.co/lBM3xb7ZLb My bus just passed the Castro. Looks like posters are promoting events at other APE venues & the awful Nasser letter is still up. #castrotheatre #savethecastro #savetheseats
In Jan 2019 @apeconcerts had three events
@Castro_Theatre In Jan 2019 something was happening every day including @ROMACuaron in 70mm & #NoirCity @noirfoundation continuing into February https://t.co/VwapuH691U
@SaveTheCastro
#castrotheatre #SaveTheCastro #SaveTheSeats
As @LeeHepner points out, @apeconcerts hasn’t held any events @Castro_Theatre in February (& nothing is scheduled https://t.co/lBM3xb7ZLb) In Feb 2019, something was happening all but two days https://t.co/zjJ1XN4LpL @SaveTheCastro #castrotheatre #SaveTheCastro #SaveTheSeats
Someone calling in asked why people should trust what @apeconcerts @Castro_Theatre plans for the interior when they haven’t even fixed the neon on the exterior. #savethecastro #castrotheatre
Opened by saying: I’m Eric but you may know me better as @Jello_Biafra_ [said favorite festival is @noirfoundation #NoirCity which has moved to the Grand Lake in Oakland] @SaveTheCastro #savethecastro #castrotheatre
@Jello_Biafra_ says the @Castro_Theatre is not a music venue or a disco. There's a reason film festivals host their events there ... "it is an atmostpheric magical place," where the audience dresses as Joan Crawford and yells "No wire hangers ever!"
San Francisco Historic Preservation Commission meets TOMORROW about the #Castro Theater! Click the link, there’s PDF, link to watch is on 1st page ^PG #TCMParty #SaveTheCastro
Alfonso Felder who is co-founder https://t.co/gYiVBF6E9R of the San Francisco Neighborhood Theater Foundation https://t.co/NcuctLsjYN which tried to buy The Clay https://t.co/MK99DOU4GS #savethecastro #savetheseats #castrotheatre
.@SFGiants VP interested in @castro_theatre, as @RafaelMandelman's not sure @apeconcerts still is.
@eBARnews @jferrnews @mike_dewald @byabartlett @gmeline @Grant_Marek @adamnagourney @BRfilmsAllen @EddieMuller @RebeccaSolnit @Tim_Sika @grouchoreviews @tablehopper @cinepam @sfist
@SaveTheCastro @SFGovTV Voted 5-0 (with one recusal) to continue til Feb 1 https://t.co/IBm7Qa55Iv One said hadn’t heard @apeconcerts @Castro_Theatre plans. Would’ve if they had gone to the one public mtg, & APE should’ve been prepared if wasn‘t continued Follow @SaveTheCastro for updates #SaveTheCastro
