Several times over the last few days on my various @77WABCradio shows, I’ve said the following key line from the Talmud: המוציא ממון מחבריו, עליו הראיה “If one seeks to extract money from his counterpart, the burden of proof is on HIM (the extractor).” This is not only a key Jewish law, but a pillar of Western civilization that every decent society adopted over the centuries after this rabbinic innovation. Mayor Mamdani, with his letters demanding thousands of New Yorkers prove to the city that they don’t owe the second home tax, rather than the city providing that incontrovertible proof itself, is NOT about raising revenues. It’s about tearing down that 2,000-year-old foundation of economic justice & society as a whole. This move is just as disruptive to civil society as open borders, eliminating bail, & corrupting the vote.

New York is kind of amazing. Very wealthy people who just care about the city, lead the way with governance, the ballet, museums, Central Park, Prospect Park -- so many institutions. They don't get paid for their involvement. They have done this sort of thing for 175 years. This is the conscientious side of capitalism. @ZohranKMamdani is dismantling these institutions.

.@ZohranKMamdani just erased the entire Advisory Board of the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City. Thirty-one civic and business leaders removed, including Chairman Rob Speyer (Tishman Speyer), William Rudin, the Dursts, Jeffrey Gural, Ron Moelis, Richard Edelman, Brad Karp, and former Deputy Mayor Edward Skyler.
This is the fund that raised $107 million for 9/11 rescue workers’ families.
The Fund has two boards. In April, Mamdani already replaced the formal Board of Directors with progressive allies. Now he has fully purged the Advisory Board, the longstanding group that actually raised private money. It’s the first complete removal in at least three administrations.
These weren’t temporary political hires. Many served across mayors, funding programs the city can’t afford alone.
He again chose ideology over institutional experience and private-sector capacity.

Mayor Mamdani’s team just confirmed: his new city-run grocery stores will require an ID to shop. Not just any ID, a special one, so they can verify you’re actually a New Yorker before you get 30% off milk and bread. 🥛🍞
Why? Because they’re worried people will drive in from Jersey and clean out the discounted groceries. Fair enough, I guess.
But here’s the part nobody can explain: 🧠
This is the SAME administration, and the same party, that calls voter ID laws racist. Says it’s “too burdensome.” Says it disenfranchises people. Says requiring ID to prove who you are before you vote for the leader of the country is some kind of civil rights violation.
Yet showing ID to buy a discounted rotisserie chicken? Totally reasonable. No pushback. No “burden” talk. Just straight up: bring your papers or no groceries.
And not a mention or a question in this story about the @NYCMayor using the government vehicles assigned to him to chauffeur @DarializaforNY and her staff around illegally to campaign during the Democratic primary last June.
At the time, Darializa Avila Chevalier was in a long-term romantic relationship with Zohran’s Chief Legal Counsel, Ramzi Kassem. So they should all have been aware of this violation of government ethics rules and the law.
In fact, there is not a mention of Chevalier or Kassem (who likely also has a government car and driver) in this @SahalieD story justifying the extensive use of NYC government cars and drivers.
