When things get tough, I'm prone to forgetting that I've delivered some great outcomes. Convening the @EMCRForum #SciPath18 conference is something I'm really proud of, and the highlight for me was the #KindnessInScience workshop. I needed to be reminded about this today π

I heard @chamindie speak about her experiences at #Scipath18 and I am glad she shared them. Everyone should readπ. They highlight some deeply rooted biases & power dynamics within hierarchical academic culture that are barriers to career progression. She also shares great tips
After celebrating #IWD, I wanted to share my story of #resilience and #determination as a woman working in #STEMM. Check out my latest article: 6 tips for Women in STEMM https://t.co/F19bysOg76 π©βπ¬@QUT @qut_ihbi @qutathenaswan @WomenSciAUST @WomenInSTEMAu @witqld @SciGenderEquity

So pleased you were there to hear my comment! #SciPath18 opened my eyes- and caused me to include extra questions in my ECR survey. Benefits of networking!

@LizyLowe @JamesUVanDyke Is it in Australia? @EMCRForum could provide advice based on #SciPath18 if that helps
@EMCRForum @MicrobialMe @synapse101 @testeeves #kindnessinscience workshop at #scipath18 got a special mention by @Jenny_STEM in her talk
@MicrobialMe @drdevangm Itβs a complex issue that exists in every race & society. But in science & as scientists we canβt blame lack of education as our ignorance on this or any form of discrimination. Awareness, empathy & respectful conversation like we discussed at #scipath18 is all that is needed!
The resources for running your own #kindnessinscience workshop are finally online! Based on the popular breakout session from @EMCRForum #SciPath18, the aim is to promote discussions about how you can foster kindness at your workplace #bettertogether https://t.co/pAa7XkpJyv

@tweetcloudbot So looks like The #SciPath18 @EMCRForum dominated a significant % of my overall tweets. But not surprising to see #melanoma #science #cancer #research also being quite popular
@EMCRForum is trialling a streamlined method to #nominateHER for peer recognition after feedback from #SciPath18 and #SATS. It's really very easy to let us know about outstanding #ECRs who deserve to be highlighted in an upcoming global initiative. Please tell us who to choose! https://t.co/XeteREHzrl
Submitted your nomination yet? It's easy: 200 words on why a particular ECR #womeninSTEM inspires you, peers & junior colleagues. Nominations particularly sought from physical sciences.
Closes FRIDAY 1 June. Can you spare 5 min to highlight someone?

Today I gave up my spot to an awesome multi-day, all-expenses-paid speaking opportunity to have a female colleague take my place. It also increased #GenderDiversity and an earlier career perspective on the speaking roster. #KindnessInScience promise from #SciPath18 @EMCRForum
If you're at #ShineDome18, say hi to our Exec members @justine_d_shaw & @DrVanessaWong who are running an #EMCR workshop. They'll be sharing some of the insights we gathered at #SciPath18 on improving diversity in competitive selection processes e.g for awards, prizes etc https://t.co/uaCAFKsxD1
Tomorrow is Science at the @ShineDome! We're proud to showcase the achievements and research stories of brilliant Australian scientists every year.

Most medical trainees r taught clinical empathy to improve physician-patient relationship. Scientists r not formally trained nor talk abt empathy but is very much needed. Word cloud from #kindnessinscience initiative at #scipath18 with @MicrobialMe @synapse101 @EMCRForum https://t.co/Y7YQezRiCP

@Sonu_Bhaskar @dr_opatel @whereisdaz I was really pleased with feedback from the #SciPath18 #kindnessinsceince remote breakout at UTS. Discussions being taken to the Dean - including suggestion to expand KPIs beyond grant funding and papers to reward good behaviour. Great to see this group challenging the status quo
@maryemcmillan @RhiannonCreasey The current status quo is difficult. I think we can make progress by talking through the problems and searching for solutions, recognising they will be different for all of us. I'm interested to hear about how EMCRs can think differently beyond the themes discussed at #SciPath18
@maryemcmillan @RhiannonCreasey I'm going through tweets to write a #SciPath18 summary. These are important points. It is hard to do it all on your own - impossible for many. Does it need to be like this? Is it feasible to consider how these responsibilities can be shared so that everyone benefits?
