Scratchtober is coming soon! Look out for the Scratchtober studio on our homepage next month: we’ll be sharing a series of short, daily project prompts to spark kids’ creativity and inspire them to think outside the box! #ScratchChat
@scratch @ScratchJr A7. Tengo pendiente realizar #mappings con @scratch, asi como realizar un "connector" con #makeymakey, ampliando en pantalla las partes señaladas en una maqueta previamente cableada. #ScratchChat
@scratch Q6. I've been inspired by @SueCusack who designed Scratch projects for for students with limited physical mobility -> having students trigger sprites and block scripts by using a physical @makeymakey switch made from cardboard and conductive materials. @Scratch

A7: Ever searching for unique project prompts? The Scratch Design Studio on the Scratch homepage is a great place for inspiration. This month, we challenged Scratchers to create projects inspired by their favorite landmarks! https://t.co/bB8sX1p4CL #ScratchChat
A7 My 3-5 Ss are working on #GettingUnstuck projects. Soon my 2nd graders will be creating "digital dioramas" w/ @ScratchJr. They research an animal & its habitat, then create an interactive Scratch Jr scene that shares what they have learned about that animal. #ScratchChat
@scratch @ScratchJr A7. I intend to have my ss use the pen blocks and create geometric patterns 😻.
And also to have them create animations telling the life of great mathematician women in history, like Katherine Johnson or Ada Lovelace.

Additionally, I’ve been really focusing on adding a physical computing piece to our activities. Pairing @microbit_edu & @makeymakey with our Scratch programs has really brought students’ ideas to life and motivated them to be more creative than ever! #ScratchChat 2/2
The Machine Learning for Kids activities have captured my attention, and that of my students, for the last few months. Scratch Lab is doing some really cool things with facial recognition and animated text that really support instruction in this area. #ScratchChat 1/2
Q7. What Scratch or @ScratchJr activities are you working on or would you like to try with your students? #ScratchChat

@scratch @ScratchJr A7.Every year, I poll students for new ideas for @Scratch projects we can work on together. My favorite suggestions so far this year are ‘virtual selves’ ('about me' w more animation) and a joint project where students share book recommendations. #scratchChat
@scratch @ScratchJr Scratch Week, Scratch Day, MoonHack by CodeClub Australia, Teacher Day , Science Day and how we can join between Scratch and School Courses. @scratch #ScratchChat
Q7. What Scratch or @ScratchJr activities are you working on or would you like to try with your students? #ScratchChat

A6 The ability to translate Scratch into other languages helps my ELLs. Being able to record their voices into Scratch is great for many of my Ss who do not type or read well for whatever reason. These features let everyone make something they can be proud of. #ScratchChat
These strategies will allow your students to consider others and CODE WITH EMPATHY, which is something that all programmers should be actively working to achieve. #ScratchChat 2/2
When making projects, consider adding narration for visually impaired students or captions for those who are hearing impaired. Ask students to consider other disabilities that users may have and how they may be able to modify interactions within their creations. #ScratchChat 1/2
Q6. What strategies do you use to make Scratch and ScratchJr accessible for your students? #ScratchChat

A6: For some students, diving into the Scratch editor without scaffolds can be overwhelming. We recommend checking out the Getting Started with Scratch tutorial for a thoughtful on-ramp to Scratch — it’s translated into 28 languages! https://t.co/Ga1MT3xYol #ScratchChat
