Deckchairs, first patented in 1886. The August Bank Holiday of 1953 set records for deckchair use in Blackpool. By 10am all 24,000 of the corporation’s deckchairs were in use. By the evening 56,000 people had hired the deckchairs! @ShowtownBPL #seasideweek #blackpoolfromhome
