At #Naif_University’s #Security_Research_Center, we hosted a distinguished Russian delegation led by Dr. Vasily Kuznetsov—Deputy Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies within the same institute, and a renowned historian who lectures at numerous Russian and international forums—accompanied by his entourage. As part of the #Security_Research_Center's activities, a Discussion panel titled "How to Read the #News?" was held. This lecture offered valuable tips on how to understand and categorize various types of news content, including news stories, analyses, investigative reports, and opinion pieces. It was an excellent opportunity to learn how to interpret news more clearly and accurately.
The panel also covered innovative strategies for enhancing #critical_thinking by thoroughly examining information and evaluating its sources. It emphasized the importance of distinguishing between objective information and biased opinions, as well as the impact of political forces and the construction of narratives in global crises, such as the #RussiaUkraineWar #Yemen and #Brexit.

A resident expert specializing in Syrian affairs from the #Security_Research_Center at #Naif_University participated in a closed session organized by the Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies. The session, titled “Current Events in #Syria, the Political Process Amid Ongoing Challenges, and its Implications for Regional Stability,” explored potential scenarios in light of Syria’s internal challenges and the broader map of regional and international interests. The discussion was held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

The #Security_Research_Center at #Naif_Arab_University_for_Security_Sciences has released a new #Policy_Paper titled "Opportunities for Using #Algorithms to Enhance #Security_Intelligence." The paper aims to identify means of predicting terrorist acts before they occur and improving #digital_identity recognition capabilities, focusing on the use of #Artificial_Intelligence in analyzing #Big_Data, monitoring terrorist content on #Social_Platforms, and detecting #Suspicious_Financial_Activities. The paper emphasized that such advancements would redefine ways to #Counter_Terrorism and enhance #Digital_Security worldwide, and suggested adopting new strategies to integrate algorithms with existing intelligence systems to enhance efficiency and reduce risks.

"#Food_security in the #Arab world is a transitory event that triggers debates and discourse during transitory shocks caused by external factors such as war in #Ukraine that cause disruption in the price and #food #supply_chain".
The #Security_Research_Center at #NAUSS published a policy paper, "The Food Security Dynamic in MENA Countries: How Should Policies be Distinctive?" It highlights that changing lifestyle and standard, along with long-term food aid, have altered the Arab world's consumption patterns. This shift, combined with a dependency on food imports and fluctuating incomes, has led to persistent supply-demand imbalances. The paper suggests that traditional food #security #methods are ineffective and advocates for a more flexible and varied #policy approach.

أشارت ورقة سياسات بعنوان "ديناميكية الأمن الغذائي في دول #الشرق_الأوسط و #شمال_أفريقيا: كيف تكون السياسات مميزة؟" صادرة عن #مركز_البحوث_الأمنية بجامعة نايف العربية للعلوم الأمنية، إلى أن التحول والتنوع في أنماط الاستهلاك في العالم العربي ناجم إما عن تغير نمط الحياة بسبب تغير مستويات المعيشة، أو بسبب المساعدات الغذائية على مدى عقود من الزمن. وقد أدى اعتماد المنطقة الشديد على الواردات الغذائية والتغيرات في استهلاك الأغذية وتفاوت مستويات الدخل إلى خلل مستمر في التوازن بين العرض والطلب، حيث لا يبدو أن النهج التقليدي للأمن الغذائي ناجح وهو ما يتطلب التحول نحو نهج أكثر ديناميكيةً وشمولاً.

A #policy_paper titled “Advancing #food_security by strengthening food systems and #economic_resilience in the Arab region,” published by the #Security_Research_Center at #NAUSS, revealed that despite vigorous efforts made by Arab governments to enhance #food #security, they are still insufficient to achieve the #development goal of eliminating #hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition. As the multidimensional #poverty rate reached 15.1% of the population in 10 Arab countries based on the 2022 Global Multidimensional #Poverty_Index.

كشفت ورقة سياسات بعنوان "النهوض بالأمن الغذائي في المنطقة العربية عبر تعزيز نظم الغذاء والصمود الاقتصادي"، صادرة عن #مركز_البحوث_الأمنية بجامعة نايف العربية للعلوم الأمنية، أنه رغم الجهود الحثيثة التي تبذلها الحكومات العربية لتعزيز #الأمن_الغذائي، إلا أنها غير كافية لبلوغ الهدف الإنمائي المعني بالقضاء على الجوع وانعدام الأمن الغذائي وسوء التغذية. فقد بلغت نسبة #الفقر متعدد الأبعاد %15.1 من إجمالي السكان في 10 دول عربية مدرجة في مؤشر الفقر متعدد الأبعاد للعام2022 .
