The paleomagnetic measurement room, shielded from outside magnetic "noise" to measure past faint magnetic traces in cores. No magnetic metals allowed, even the chairs are wood! Had a enjoyable chat w/EPM Okutsu about the days of analysis after analysis in this room #SeizeSlowSlip

The ROV connects to the seafloor #BoreholeObservatory via #OpticalUnderwaterConnector (pix Dep. Chief Researcher Machida). Don't worry about attaching/detaching in seawater, it's protected w/oil to prevent short-circuiting. Must-have for underwater work‼️ #SeizeSlowSlip #Chikyu
