To prioritize M79 #SelectBusService, DOT is piloting a new bus only queue jump signal on 79th St at 5th Ave. Buses proceed on the vertical white bar to be first through the 79th St Transverse before general traffic, getting bus riders to the west side faster and more reliably.
Today we have released a progress report about M79 #SelectBusService. 12,500 daily @NYCTBus riders have experienced 8% faster service on average since SBS launched in May of 2017 & one year after launch ridership was up 9%.

In 2019, we installed 326 Transit Signal Priority (TSP) & Queue Jump intersections in partnership with @MTA, exceeding our #BetterBuses goal. This included on the M15 @NYCTBus route, Q52/Q53 #SelectBusService route, M1 route, & four queue jumps on Broadway in Queens.

This morning, Commissioner Trottenberg spoke on an @NYURudin #BetterBuses panel about #SelectBusService, working with @NYCTBus and bus improvements happening throughout NYC.
On Webster Ave (E 174-E 176 St) in #theBronx, DOT installed a s/b offset bus lane & physical barrier to separate @NYCTBus from right turning vehicles helping 21,000 daily Bx41 & #SelectBusService riders. This project also included painted curb extensions. #nycdot2019 #BetterBuses
According to @NYCTBus data, afternoon B46 Local & #SelectBusService speeds (Fulton St to Atlantic Ave SB in BK) have doubled since DOT implemented a bus lane this year (Oct 18 vs Oct 19). At the same time, speeds for other vehicles have improved by 14%. #BetterBuses #nycdot2019

Yesterday we joined @MTA to announce the launch of new @NYCTBus-mounted cameras on the M14 A/D #SelectBusService route (currently issuing warnings) and to remind drivers that fixed-location cameras along this #BetterBuses route will begin issuing violations on 12/2.

#Q53 #SelectBusService & #Q58 buses are moving faster along Broadway in Queens, thanks to new bus only queue jump signals. This dedicated signal phase features a white vertical bar and allows buses a head start at intersections (like an LPI for buses!). #BetterBuses
The MTA recently implemented a forward-facing mobile camera system on M15 #SelectBusService. This is part of a multi-agency approach to keep bus lanes clear, speed up rides and prioritize transit on high-volume corridors throughout the city. #BetterBuses
This morning Cmsr Trottenberg met with @NYPDTransport & took a #SelectBusService ride on 14th St.
Reminder: 6AM-10PM everyday, only buses & trucks may make thru trips on 14th St, 9th-3rd Aves.
All other vehicles may make local trips, but must turn at the next available right.
