As a brain surgeon, I have watched patients walk into pre-op terrified.
And I have watched some of those same patients start humming a worship song under their breath in the holding area, and watched the heart-rate monitor change.

There's an idea in math called an ergodic system. If you keep taking shots instead of quitting, the odds get closer to zero loss. Your brain learns to lean toward calm over panic, so keep going. #SelfBrainSurgery #NeuroScience #Grit #Motivation
@drleewarrenmd Mind over matter = the occult.
Mind over your brain matter = #selfbrainsurgery, #neuroscience, and #neuroplasticity!
“My mind over my brain matter.”

The best book ever written about it is The Mind and the Brain by Jeffrey Schwartz.
(Mine is pretty good, too)
