The Federal Reserve cut rates by 50 bps. The median projection has two more 25 bps rate cuts in 2024, for a total of 100 bps this year. Fed governor Miki Bowman dissented in favor of a smaller 25 bps cut. It's the first dissent by a *governor* since 2005.

The anticipation for the expected #SeptemberRateCut is great, but if it immediately triggers spending in a significant amount, it could make the #Fed and the #FOMC think twice about even a small #interestratcut. However, the #markets are so invested and seem to be totally relying on this #ratecut, that they may not have the option of #higherforlonger. Let's not forget the mounting pressure of #politics a few months from contested #presidentialelections. What may not happen is a smaller cut or, more likely, no further #ratecuts for a while.
