SOSNE appeared before the Nebraska Supreme Court today to defend Nebraskans' right to vote on using tax dollars to fund private schools. More than 200,000 signed petitions to vote, but Senator Linehan is pushing to deny this right and impose a costly voucher scheme on taxpayers.

Senator Linehan made the Legislature adjourn unexpectedly last week so she could find the votes. After a long weekend, she still doesn't have the votes. They just need to call it and go home. This is a bad plan. #neleg
What's unserious is Senator Linehan chairing the hearings of 80+ other bills on the topic of property tax relief and then saying no other ideas have been proposed.
Nebraskans deserve a thoughtful, thorough process. This isn’t it.
Yesterday, we were told the Revenue Committee needed more time before releasing the amendment text because there were errors. Now Senator Linehan says it was to buy time to get more votes. If you can't be honest about the process, how can we trust the outcome? #neleg
So. Who wants to talk about how in the new version of the Governor's plan, they snuck in a new piece that takes away 19% of a city's sales tax to try and help pay for the state takeover of schools? #neleg
Not sure who needs to hear this, BUT, the governor and Linehan would like to raise the sales tax on farmers inputs from 0.0% to 2.0%, but lowered their friends sales tax at the Outlet Mall from 5.5% to 2.75% back on April 1st indefinitely or until he comes up with a plan.

They don’t.
Wealthier families get rebates for elite schools they’re already in, and lower income kids get shoved into sub-prime options
