When #SheStands was introduced to me by CEO John Koroma, I fell in love ๐ with the idea. The idea that women from all walks of life could come together under one 'Umbrella' and talk about their dreams for #MamaSalone, their #Hopes for the younger generation, their #aspirations for all the different communities that make us whole as a people...
I was born in #Freetown, my birth Mother from Madina, Tonko Limba Chiefdom, Kambia .. my adopted Mum, the most amazing, beautiful Krio Woman โ๏ธ... Warriors the pair of them ...
One taught me how to be humble..
the other how to be strong in the face of adversity.
I hail from 'Strong Women' ... I will #Honour them both.
Since I was very young I showed an interest in politics and public affairs... and I attribute that to the memories I have of being with my Dad Christian Alusine Kamara-Taylor.. The brief moments of conversation I believe I still retain ..
I studied politics in High school..studied it at University, spoke it and lived it. Honestly I don't believe I know anything but Politics and Socialism .. but I have remained of the opinion that this World ๐๐ will ONLY be a better place if we 'Lift each other up' regardless of social or economic background...
However...
I will never look kindly upon women who stifle other women's voice or personal liberty, whilst pretending to care - when in fact all they're doing is pointing fingers at the misdemeanors of others whilst getting away with the most atrocious and vile crimes.
I'm not a hypocrite, no one is perfect - I know this๐.. but surely 'mistakes' should be learned from ...not continuously repeated and then used as a beating stick upon the heads of the people pointing it out?!
I believe in integrity, democracy and diplomacy... I am ANTI INTERVENTION, ANTI WAR and stand against all forms of apartheid ๐..
I will not diminish myself for anyone or their ego, I will stand firm in my truth, even if I have to stand alone but equally be open to other points of views and ideas ..
#SheStands should do just that 'Stand'

As we continue our preparations for holding the PeRP Conference2023 in Makeni, we are privileged to announce today that after months of joining the programme, Catherine Higgins nee Kamara-Taylor has duly been appointed as #SheStands Goodwill Ambassador for United Kingdom & Northern Ireland, 2023-2024.
Prior to the official appointment of Amb. Higgins, a UK citizen and daughter of the late C A. Kamara-Taylor has been a key supporter of #SheStands and has accepted to serve in the capacity after being approached on consultations.
Amb. Higgins becomes the third person overseas to be appointed in the capacity after Ambassadors Prince Kanu and Rev. Dr. Paul Bala Samura in the United States.
