I come from a business and PR background. I don’t typically talk politics with super close friends or acquaintances unless I know what “side” they are on. I guess I’m forever an entrepreneur’s daughter and got that cemented into my brain for the first 18-years of my life - “no politics and no religious conversations.” I’ve never talked with my cleaning lady about what I do; she just knows I work in politics based on random materials and far too many stickers spread throughout my house, nothing else. Today, she said - “Lacey, I’ve never voted. I don’t even know how to vote or the difference between a Democrat or Republican. I’m a US citizen, but my mom never voted, my siblings don’t vote, my niece doesn’t vote, my husband didn’t vote. I speak English but have never felt comfortable to go vote. I don’t even know who I would vote for! I see how hard you work, and was wondering if you would help me know who to vote for?” This was a wake up call to me - I talk with Carmen every single week. There is a whole group within the Latino community who share Carmen’s same story. These people are just WAITING for us to reach out to them!! I’m embarrassed it’s taken me nearly 2 years to even discuss politics with Carmen; I blame fear and “being scared to offend someone in a super liberal city.” As all of us activists work to connect with others, let’s not forget to first start with our inner circle and educate those people first. **I am happy to report that I told Carmen we are starting a Latino Coalition, I need her help, and we will educate voters all across Tucson. We will absolutely FIRST be meeting with Carmen’s family and friends!👏👏

Did Hillary cross the line calling for a “formal deprogramming” for MAGA followers? During an interview with CNN, Hillary Clinton talked about the fact that the GOP has become a cult: “So many of those extremists, those MAGA extremists, take their marching orders from Donald Trump, who has no credibility left by any measure.” Adding: “Maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members…” Did she go too far?
