A.B.P.S. 1991 : ON BANGALADESHI INFILTRATORS
It was a most shocking experience to see recently (Feb. 12, 1991) that hundreds of Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators had the audacity to hold a Press Conference at the Press club in Central Calcutta under the banner of 'Bangladeshi Mohajir Sangh', where they also circulated a leaflet containing the signatures of twenty seven Bangladeshi Muslims. Throwing to wind all the rigours and norms of the laws of the land, including those contained in the Foreigner's Act, they asserted that more than a lakh of Bandladeshi Muslim infiltrators have already settled in and around Calcutta and that others and scattered in Bombay, Delhi, Ahmedabad and other parts of the country. They demanded that they be given Indian citizensnip. Still more amazing is the fact that the police failed to arrest the infiltrator-processionists marching through various parts of the City, with the mysterious comment that they had no instruction to take them into custody. The unprecedented scenario gave an impression to the police that the processionists had in fact the tacit consent and unlawful protection from the authorities. The Home Secretary of West Bengal Government, when contacted later, expressed his unawareness of any leaflet or even the procession. Though the provincial units of the R.S.S., Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the B.J.P. in West Bengal had soon thereafter demanded immediate action against these foreigners and had also urged upon the Government to see to it that the lakhs of Bangladeshi Muslims who have already infiltrated in the border districts of 24 Parganas, Nadia, Murshidabad, Malda, West Dinajpur, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar are pushed back, no action has been taken till now.
The Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha of the R.S.S. views with grave concern the abject apathy of the Central Government and the West Bengal Government to such organised inimical activities of the foreign Muslim Infiltrators. And it is quite apparent that they have the indirect approval of the CPM led left front ruling party and the Congress(I), which have been hankering after the bloc votes of those Muslim infiltrators, and have been providing them with Ration Cards in spite of the fact that the R.S.S., the first organisation to bring the seriousness of the infiltration problem to the notice of the Administration, has been hammering this for all these years.
The ABPS condemns vehemently the reprehensible attitude and stoic inaction of the Government and urges it to deal very sternly with these Muslim infiltrators, who are out and out foreigners, who have already spread their tentacles to Sikkim, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Bihar, Rajasthan, Gujarat and are posing a pernicious threat to the integrity and security of the country. The ABPS, therefore, demands that immediate steps be initiated to take into custody all these foreigners where ever they are found in this country and deport them back to Bangladeshi at the earliest.
The aftermath of a devastating event is revealed, showing a house in ruins. The emotional toll is palpable as bullet holes and a high number of recovered bullets paint a grim picture of what transpired.
