In light of the new “Top Form” event —because that’s what it really is— I’d like to share some thoughts about this and the rebroadcast of the series in Japan. 1⃣ The rebroadcast of Top Form in Japan has one clear and logical outcome: more fans. Fans of the series, and fans of the CP. There’s no other possible consequence. 2⃣ Even being pessimistic: out of 100 new viewers, maybe half will like it, and from those 50, about 5–10 could become true fans. The type of fans who search deeper, consume related content about the series and actors, and inevitably fall in love with the same thing we all did: SmartBoom. 3⃣ The 3 fandoms (Syra, Auralis, Betus) will gain new members. And when they see this whole mess, they’ll ask themselves the same as us veterans: how can they promote rebroadcasts and events while leaving such an obvious disaster unresolved If we ask, new fans will too. 4⃣ I’d love to apply logic: why would you promote a CP to new fans if you don’t intend to bring it back? But with all the contradictions these companies have shown in the past months, applying logic here has become useless. 5⃣ Putting “TOPFORM1” in the URL and then not bringing the full cast is just wrong. At minimum, if you dare to name it that way, that fanmeeting should include the actors who gave life to: Smart (Jin), Boom (Akin), Peanut (Johnny), Euro (Naru), Namwaan (Judy), Toey (Jade)… and even Boss (the director). This is supposed to be the first "official event" since the finale. 6⃣ I want to believe those “mystery guests” are actually the missing cast not shown on the poster. But once again, logic can’t really be applied here anymore… 7⃣ The Japan rebroadcast runs from Sep 22 to Oct 8. That means new fans will already be around for the Boom/Peanut/Euro event. How do they plan to handle questions about Jin/Smart? Because Top Form has many themes, but at its core it’s the story of JinAkin. You cannot avoid mentioning the character, and inevitably, the actor. We fell in love with their interaction. And no matter how much they try to cover the sun with one finger, the undeniable factor of this series’ success is the chemistry between Smart & Boom. You can’t erase him. The story is Jin & Akin. The success = Smart & Boom’s chemistry. 8⃣ Casting a different actor as Jin has been rumored since day one of this split. But let’s be honest: every time this has been done in other series, it’s been a complete failure. At this point, giving Jin to another actor would ruin so much of the excellent work everyone put into S1. Personally, I’d rather never have more Top Form than see S1’s masterpiece ruined. 9⃣ We may be stubborn, but the truth is: there has never been a definitive closure. There’s nothing right now proving Smart and Boom don’t want to keep working together. Promoting the series where they are the leads only makes sense if they’re going to return. So again… can we apply logic here? 🔟 Building future seasons around other characters or avoiding Jin completely would break continuity. It would move far away from the original Dakaichi. Because Dakaichi is Junta & Takato. Top Form is Jin & Akin. And after all the company-made drama, canonizing the series has turned it into the story of Smart & Boom. Conclusion: Doing all this without SmartBoom will only bring losses. If they finally say “they’re not coming back”… then chaos is guaranteed.
