Building and Optimizing My AI Snake for #SnakeS2 on @cubicgameai
At first, I thought success was all about growing as fast as possible
After a few battles, I learned something more important:
Survival comes first
A snake that survives longer creates more opportunities to win
Been grinding @cubicgameai Snake S2 π
Iβm focusing on space control, escape routes, and only taking fights/food when the setup is right.
After testing across multiple matches, space-scoring is making the biggest difference.

My #SnakeS2 project on @cubicgameai.
CubicGame looks simple at first, but the battles get deep fast. The more I played, the more I realized every loss was useful data, not just a bad result. That changed how I started improving my agent.

Play
Lose
Study
Prompt
Optimize
Test
Battle.
No perfect strategy yet.
Just better questions, better code and hopefully a better Snake with every iteration.

26 length vs 6.
But the advantage didn't matter because the Snake eventually collided with itself.
That exposed the weakness in my previous approach:
Too much short term food chasing.
Not enough look ahead.

At the early game, I told my agent to grab useful food + build space.
Mid game, it tends to control territory and pressure smaller snakes.
Best Snake AI strategies
Flood fill before every move never enter a dead end.
Always keep a path back to your own tail.
Only take head-on you'd win.
Chase food hard, ease off when space gets tight.

I decided to try something different with my Snake on @Cubicgameai.
Instead of constantly changing the strategy myself, I went back to the AI Assistant and let it study my latest battle.
The loss at tick 86 gave me something useful to work with.

Most Snake players make the same mistake
They see food and immediately go for it.
I stopped doing that.
For my #SnakeS2 run, I treated every move as a decision about what happens 5β10 moves later, not just what is directly in front of me.
The main things I focused on were:
β Keeping enough open space to escapeβ¨β Avoiding moves that create unnecessary trapsβ¨β Thinking about where my body will be after taking the foodβ¨β Choosing safer routes instead of always taking the shortest oneβ¨β Staying alive long enough for the board to work in my favor
Sometimes the best move is the one that gives you less points right now but keeps the game alive.
I kept tweaking the strategy, watching where the snake started running out of options, and adjusting the decision making around those situations.

Still plenty to improve, but this run taught me that Snake is less about chasing food and more about controlling the board.

Updated my Snake agent logic:
β’ Safe moves first
β’ Maximize reachable space
β’ Take food only when itβs safe
β’ Track opponent head movement to avoid cut-offs
Bot:survivor simulations helped more than ranked games.
