After 2 years since joining @kaggle , finally I made a submission and learned a lot during the process.

5. If you skip too many days, though, and tempted to give up, the antidote is simple. Just commit 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, you can stop. Most of the time, though, you will continue to 2 hours or more. That's how I came back after losing 2 weeks in the middle.

4. Sleep is important. It's better to take time 1-2 hours everyday and get enough sleep, rather than get carried away and too tired to continue on the next day and skip it. It will be more difficult to get back on track for each day passed.

3. Data cleaning step was the longest time spent. It created the most headache too. Multiple times I thought it's done, only to get back at it again. I should have started with drafting a step by step plan before start coding.

2. EDA and data visualizations are my weaknesses. I spent a lot of time to learn about machine learning, from standard to advanced model, but not much on EDA and data viz. I'll take time to learn those within this month.

1. Take time to research on the subject matter to really understand the case on hand. In my case, Kaggle provided a link to the original paper, but I ignored it until a few days later. Once I opened the link and read the paper, it made me understand the data more.

#SoDS19 I met my goal of finishing the @deeplearningai_ specialization in Coursera, and met about half of my goal to finish the @ModeAnalytics SQL tutorial. I had an unexpected move in August, and also have a job and three kids, so I'm just going to count the summer as a win.

Learned about ensemble method and used it.
Result: score improved from 0.1233 to 0.1161.
Rank: advanced 733 places to #677/4441! Hooray!
I'll stick to this model for now and will try to optimize it.
