๐ Optimistic Sentiment in the Stock Market
Despite the overvaluation of the stock market, Schwab's latest quarterly survey of clients shows that investors are increasingly optimistic about the bull market, and their positive sentiment remains strong. Last month, Schwab surveyed 1,040 active traders, and the results showed that 51% of traders were bullish, compared to 34% who were bearish. Optimism was particularly high among traders under 40, with the bullish percentage rising to 59%, up from 47% in the fourth quarter of last year. Even though two-thirds of traders believe the market is overvalued, the positive sentiment persists.

๐ Traders Still Bullish on the Market
Schwabโs trading services head, James Kostulias, said, โItโs clear that most traders believe thereโs some bubble in the market, but overall, they still feel the bull market has room to rise.โ Kostulias added, โMore than half of traders plan to increase their stock holdings in the first quarter.โ

๐ด Potential Risks of Bullish Sentiment
Although the bullish sentiment suggests a positive outlook for the market, it could also be seen as a "contrarian signal" when signs of overheating appear. After the S&P 500's strong growth of over 50% in two years, recent market momentum has slowed, and concerns about an economic slowdown and increased volatility from the new government's rapid policy changes are rising. So far this year, the S&P 500 has only risen by 1.3%, while the Nasdaq Composite, which is tech-heavy, has turned negative.

Preferred Sectors and Economic Outlook
In terms of sectors, traders are most optimistic about energy, technology, financials, and utilities. These sectors typically benefit from potential deregulation during the Trump administration. The survey also found that the number of traders who believe the U.S. will face an economic recession has significantly decreased. Only one-third of respondents think the U.S. economy has a โslight chanceโ of entering a recession, compared to 54% in the previous quarter.

๐ธ Stable Inflation Expectations
