Standby guardianship is already allowed in instances when a parent has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. This bill will broaden the current law to allow parents to assign a standby guardian in case of arrest, detention, incarceration, and deportation. #StandbyGuardian
Standby Guardianship will allow parents to plan for care for their children in case of a major life disruption without relinquishing parental rights and ensure a more humane transition for children facing drastic life adjustments. #StandbyGuardian
