Canadian #GDP was weak in February, declining 0.2% m/m. #Statcan's flash estimate for March is for a small 0.1% increase. Putting those two together, we should get around 1.5% growth for Q1, a smidge below the #BoC's estimate of 1.8%.
But that's yesterday's news. Our focus will be on April's employment report next Friday, the first important "hard" data point we get for April. Recall last month we had a drop of 33k jobs in #Canada. If that trend continues, that might bring forward some more rate cuts.
