It will probably be subsumed as will #StayingPut as cheaper options emerge with proposed legislation. Care for 16 & older CHILDREN may well become extinct #ECLCM

@article_39 @whatworksCSC It would have been great if all kids leaving care had a choice between #stayingput or #stayingclose. That has never happened, as DfS continue to discriminate between kids leaving foster care & children's homes - supported by the DfE-led Care Review.
@JoeEHanley @CareReviewWatch @EdNixon2 Yet, in fairness, it was Martin Narey who mooted #stayingclose in his residential review when he rejected #stayingput for kids in children's homes (wrongly in my view). The final #stayingclose model was then diluted by DfE.
Just to be clear. Residential Care is a positive option for some of our children and young people. I don't support exploitative profit making, poor quality or abuse. Our children deserve the best. @ResCareTo21 #ECLCM #CaringTeams #StayingClose #StayingPut
For the sake of clarity. Some people seem to have formed an impression that we are simply promoting Residential Care. This is not the case and we recognise that there are many problems in this sector not least exploitative profit taking and, or poor quality or abusive care 1/2
@IanGould5 @EdNixon2 @ResCareTo21 @reviewCSC 1. You may know Ed & I met Isabelle Trowler in Lymm years ago to promote #stayingput for all, without discrimination based on placement. She was very gracious but turned it down flat, as did the Narey review. Martin offered #stayingclose, & I believe supported our #CARING TEAMS.>

Welcome as a tiny step, but perpetuates the discrimation of staying put as applied, & doesn't apply #staying close as originally designed ((CARINGTEAMS).
@IanGould5 1. I saw these Ian. It's not really unequivocal because it depicts #stayingclose as per the pilots, akin to the 16+ units LAs ran in the 70/80's. As I hope @EdNixon2 will confirm, it also sees Staying Close (not CARING TEAMS) as an end in itself, not a step to Staying Put >
@IanGould5 @ResCareTo21 CARINGTEAMS was the original template for #Stayingclose, intended to reflect #stayingput as far as possible for kids in children's homes as a bridge to Staying Put for all. DfE diluted it via the pilots to 16+ care. The Review rubber stamps that, possibly to 23. Not good enough
