Alarms blaring! Monitor showing #Vtach with a HR of >220bpm! Flurry of information coming at me when I enter the room. Pt says “hi doc! What’s going on?” ?!?! On exam HR of 90. BP stable. Turns out the monitor was acting up. #disasteravoided #stethoscopefirst #physicalexam

@venkmurthy Have to admit I never pick up anything ‘new’ on cardiac auscultation in cardiac consults. You can never ditch lung auscultation though. ED is another story, countless times I heard relevant MR or AS which younger colleagues ‘didn’t hear’ (or forgot to listen?) #StethoscopeFirst

#StethoscopeFirst. Subset of symptomatic mitral paravalvular leaks we've been sent recently with delayed diagnosis from non demonstrative TTE's. All had murmurs. Key is listen, high clinical suspicion, low threshold to TEE. #StethoscopeFirst then #EchoFirst #PrincetonAlabama
