As the permanent crest gate no.19 of the #TungabhadraDam was washed away last Saturday, after its chain link broke, the experts team installing a temporary stoplogs gate at #TBDam. First temporary stoplogs gate installed successfully on Friday night at Tungabhadra reservoir, remaining four stoplogs gate will be installed on Saturday.
The experts team including district incharge ministers celebrated by distributing sweets after successfully installed the first stoplog gate.

One of the crest gates at the #TungabhadraDam washed away, resulted in significant discharge of water, after the 29 gates have been opened, High alert for #Flood in downstream areas.
The Chief Engineer of the #Tungabhadra Irrigation Zone, has visited the dam.
He says the 19th crest gate of the Tungabhadra dam has malfunctioned. The remaining gates have been opened, and water is being released. There is no issue regarding the safety of the dam. The expert team will decide whether the work can be done with the existing water in the reservoir. Currently 29 gates opened and 70,000 cusecs of water are being released. This is the first time in the 69-year history of the dam that such an incident has occurred.
It is expected that 2,00,000 to 3,00,000 cusecs of water will be released into the river
