This is where my #PhD #research comes in! The #budding and #strobilation of #polyps, and the survival of the subsequent #ephyra, will partially determine how many #medusae we eventually see. So its important to determine reproductive responses in these early life stages

#Strobilation usually occurs as a single event, where a physical mechanism (like temperature) triggers #jellyfish polyps to undergo this process.

#Strobilation is a pretty cool process! A #polyp (a) starts by elongating and separating into cell layers (b, c). This continues until the polyp becomes a full #strobila (d), where each layer is an individual #ephyra that will eventually release into the water column
