Halfway through rereading #StrongPoison by @DLSSoc - the first Wimsey I ever read >10yrs ago - and thoroughly enjoying it. The series starts to come into its own, not just because #HarrietVane gives #LordPeterWimsey more depth, but Sayers’ confidence as a writer is more evident.

Bizarre occurrences- buying #DorothySayers’s #StrongPoison on Kindle and within the cover discovering an Anne of Greengables novel. Didn’t spot the title page and read the opening paragraph with amazement at what I had forgotten about Harriet Vane’s adventures.

@DLSSoc Interesting! I started with #StrongPoison as I’d mistaken it for the first in the series; looking back - and in the middle of rereading the series at the moment - I’d recommend starting with #TheUnpleasantnessAtTheBellonaClub then Strong Poison to meet Peter before+after Harriet

BOOK REVIEW: #StrongPoison by @DorothyLSayers is a true crime classic and the one where the series really begins to turn into something special. With the introduction of Harriet Vane, it has a dash of sexual tension. #mustread #goodreads #booklover https://t.co/oVVhn1BqV7

Dorothy Sayers had a lot of fun with #StrongPoison, satirising female detective novelists and advertising copywriters (she was both). How much of her is Harriet Vane, Wimsey's obsession in this book? Everything and nothing, like the best fictional creations.

I love that #StrongPoison ends with Lord Peter STILL determined to someday marry Harriet Vane.

I'm so glad that Harriet doesn't mind his looks, and I had to laugh at Peter offering to get her testimonials about how his in bed. Oh, hon *fond* #StrongPoison

Lord Peter visits Harriet in jail, and in his first conversation with her proposes marriage. And he comes across as awkward amd really adorable, and I kind of love him #StrongPoison
