Sweden to upgrade 44 #Strv122/#Leo2A5 with modern L/55 guns, new electronics, new tracks, and other things "in line with other modern Leopard-tanks". Will be designated #Strv123A. Rumours about a 2A7Sweden has been going for quite some time. #Strv123

Article also notes 2A8 procurement is primarily a political initiative, with Army requirement for "next gen Leopard" (dubbed 2AX) having more ambitious features. 2AX would require at least 2-3 more years development. Long-term trajectory for recapitalization to be seen.

There's absolutely no talk about a Finnish tank upgrade program out in the open for the time being, and while the Swedish #Strv123 program is likely underway, it isn't exactly understood what they are after or not, let alone clear that it is currently being finalised.

Eh... I've so far seen no mention in Swedish sources of the REMO/MLU leading to #Strv122 being called #Strv123. I've not seen the 2A7S designation either TBH. Have I missed something, I thought the REMO decided upon so far was a very basic one? #turpo=#säkpol
