#Ergo continues to be the most decentralized POW blockchain out there and also breaking new ground when it comes to scalability.
So, What Do Subblocks Actually Help With?
1. Faster Mining
• Miners don’t have to wait as long between blocks.
• They can start the next block as soon as the header (a small summary of the last block) is shared.
2. Fewer Wasted Blocks
• In normal PoW, if two miners find blocks at the same time, one is often wasted (called an “orphan” block).
• Subblocks reduce these orphans, so less work is lost.
3. Better Performance
• Transactions flow through the network more smoothly.
• The system can handle more activity without slowing down.
4. Helps Light Wallets
• Light wallets don’t need full blocks to verify stuff.
• Subblocks make it easier for them to stay updated quickly and cheaply.
