Having written some utility routines in #Suite16 assembly language, its now very obvious I'm not making full efficient use of the payload byte in the lower half of the instruction. Page addressing, 128 zeropage registers & extend memory addressing to 24-bit - all spring to mind.

#Suite16 progress is much benefiting from the TASM assembler. It's already pointed out some errors I made in the original hand-assembled code, mainly with conditional branches, & it's easy to add new instructions such as ADD R0, R0 First attempt here: https://t.co/CZpvcEPPLU

#Suite16 Bug found, planet saved..... Hex conversion routine has been restored to near optimal. This is my 40th year of working with computers, and I frequently have to remind myself when coding that "they only do what you ask them to do".

Musing over a 50MHz clock driving a 4-bit counter & 4 line decoder 74xx139 as a fast micro-sequencer with 4 micro-instruction slots to drive a diode array ROM. I've coded enough #Suite16 assembly code for the simulator - I now have to start implementing those ideas in hardware
