Although they touched on other genres #JethroTull are generally considered a #Prog band. Today I'm going to start working my through their back catalogue with the 1968, more blues based, debut album 'This Was', the only one with guitarist Mick Abrahams. #SundayProg
This 1973 album by #Prog band #ELP has been a favourite since it came out. Below is a copy signed by #CarlPalmer which @StephanieJaneG6 bought me when we saw his band at the @thepicturedrome in Holmfirth. She bought herself one of his custom made stickbags. #SundayProg
From 1971 comes the 5th album from #Prog band #Yes which is also the 1st to feature keyboard wizard Rick #Wakeman. His recruitment from The Strawbs was a masterstroke which expanded the band's horizons. I've chosen it before but nevertheless it's this week's #SundayProg.
Even most #Prog fans don't know this band. A cult band if there ever was. Their 4th album from 1971 and the last to feature all 3 Shulman brothers and with artwork by Roger Dean. Another one I used to listen to a lot back in the day. It's this week's #SundayProg.
If you don't know this 1973 release I have to ask where have you been? With chart weeks on Billboard totalling over 19 years and certified 14 times platinum in the UK its the grandaddy of #Prog albums and it's this week's #SundayProg.
Inspired by the 1941 novella from Paul Gallico which is set against the events of the evacuation from Dunkirk in 1940, this has always been one of my favourite #Prog albums.
It's so easy to pick this as my #SundayProg selection.
From 1978, Peter Gabriel II aka Scratch. Although heavily influenced by the presence of Robert Fripp to me it still represents the start of a move by Gabriel away from #Prog towards a more general rock sound but it is, nevertheless, today's #SundayProg.
Although #Vangelis didn't get the job in #Prog band #Yes when Rick Wakeman left he did make a number of albums with Jon Anderson. This is the first from 1980. Slated by the critics I don't think I've heard it since soon after release. Let's give it a go as this week's #SundayProg
From 1974 the only studio album by #Prog band #Yes with Patrick Moraz. After Rick Wakeman left they auditioned a number of people including Vangelis before settling on #Moraz who brought a slight shift in sound. This week's #SundayProg.
The first (1972) live album by #Prog band Emerson, Lake and Palmer is a perfect example of their habit of adapting classical music. Keith Emerson had done this with great success in The Nice & never stopped. It remains one of my favourite live albums. This week's #SundayProg.
This 1974 #Prog album was dubbed Son of Tubular Bells by many but does have much to recommend it. Named for the Herefordshire landmark Mike Oldfield retreated to after his astonishing early success, it's this week's #SundayProg
In 1975 #Prog band Yes took time out to each release a solo album to quite a bit of derision at the time. In truth the standard was variable but I rather enjoyed this one from bassist Chris Squire.

From 1975 while he was still in Genesis this is the first solo album from Steve Hackett. Based on the cards of the major tarot, it features a wealth guest contributors, many of whom were big names at the time. I played this a hell of a lot when it came out. #SundayProg #Prog #70s
For this week's #SundayProg I'm going with this 1976 album from Genesis. The last with Steve Hackett. Really it's the last studio album by them that I fully enjoyed, after this they evolved into a stadium rock band producing material I didn't care for. #Prog
While always being aware of this band I've somehow managed to never hear them. They were highly regarded but never commercially successful. For #SundayProg I'm going into uncharted territory with this 1970 album from Van der Graaf Generator. Their only UK top 50 album. #Prog
For this week's #SundayProg I'm going round by the corner where, no doubt, seasons will pass me by. This album dominated the music press awards when it came out - 1972. Like a lot of the band's music it is called pretentious by some but I still love it. #Prog
