In a show of international solidarity, the Swiss trade union and UNI Global Union affiliate, UNIA, which represents workers in the watch industry in Switzerland, sent a message of support to their Turkish colleagues.
“We were very disappointed to learn that the negotiations have so far ended in failure. We regret the attitude of the Swatch Group, which is one of the main signatories of the collective labour agreement in the Swiss watchmaking industry. We will not fail to remind them that their social responsibility also entails fair and dignified treatment of workers at all their sites,” said Raphaël Thiémard of UNIA. “We once again express the support of the UNIA for your struggle. You deserve, without further delay, a collective labour agreement that meets your needs. We are strong together.”
