A #Thinkitive is an “it” about which to think more thinkingly.
It’s worthy of #metacognition’s #Sys2Thinking—to achieve #HigherOrderThinking (HOT) for personal-#BestEffortThinking (BET).

Below @grok and I offer you a paywall-free #GiftLink to gain access to this brilliant reporting by @emmabgo in @nytimes about @columbiajourn’s Professor @SamuelGFreedman. Grok adds:
“The X post by John R Dallas Jr highlights a Columbia Journalism School seminar led by Professor Samuel Freedman since 1991, which has resulted in 113 book contracts and 95 published books from 675 students, showcasing an experimental approach to long-form narrative writing that emphasizes rigorous mentorship and high expectations.
• Dallas connects Freedman's class to his @EnclaveAcademy, introducing the concept of ‘thinkitives’—metacognitive exercises for thinker-doer leaders to master complex thinking, drawing on the idea that metacognition (thinking about thinking) enhances writing and leadership, as supported by studies like Taczak and Robertson’s 2017 work on reflective writing practices.
• The post references Emma Goldberg’s New York Times article, praising her for subtly weaving metacognition into her reporting on cultural and economic change, while encouraging readers to apply Freedman’s and Goldberg’s methods to their own projects, suggesting that anyone with a book idea can succeed through disciplined, reflective thinking.” —#Grok3

This is a shot across the bow of anyone ignoring this #MemorialDay’s clarion call for #Sys2Thinking’s #HigherOrderThinking (HOT)—to combat #Sys1Thinking’s #LowerOrderThinking (LOT).
In any democratic nation, a small-minded #ThinkerInChief’s ‘lot of LOT’ puts at risk fought-for freedom.
For #CitizenThinkers and #ElectedThinkers to deny autocratic threats to any republic’s core freedoms is dangerously naïve.
These humble thinkings I wrote in a first draft of a talk I was to give to a group of state legislators—#ElectedThinkers. The February 2025 speaking engagement was indefinitely postponed, so I left raw and unedited these thinking triggers I intended to think through and extemporaneously build upon with the group’s input:
“We’re called to learn to learn mighty metacognition skills—so we can courageously ‘think to think’ to live to live forever free for coveted freed learning, thinking, and living.
Threats to our blood-freed rights—to master metacognitive thinking—are an egocentric autocrat’s evil and greedy thoughts and other actions away.”
“The Thinker’s Thinker Next Door” is the working title for my delayed talk.
Your thinkings, please?

Metacognition also works retrospectively. In the context of these posts, mistakenly such insights and guesswork would be called, “20/20 hindsight.”
During #MemorialDayWeekend 2025, we honor fallen heroes of every war by rethinking roots of past, present, and future thinking.
@grok offers perspective from its mechanized approximation of human metacognitive sensitivity:
“The X post by John R Dallas Jr references a @nytimes article suggesting that the KGB, during the Soviet Union's collapse in the late 1980s, may have planted fake Brazilian birth certificates for future Russian spies, showcasing a strategic long-term espionage tactic known as ‘deep-cover’ operations.
• This article’s premise aligns with historical Russian espionage culture, which, as noted in Shaun Walker’s book ‘The Illegals,’ emphasizes meticulous training of spies to blend into foreign societies over decades, a practice dating back to the Soviet Union's founding under Lenin.
• Dallas critiques U.S. post-WWII triumphalism, arguing that celebrating victories like the Soviet Union's fall ignored the persistent threat of espionage, a perspective supported by the FBI’s 10-year surveillance of Russian agents, which revealed their limited effectiveness due to a defector’s tip.” —#Grok3
#RussianAggression is partly fueled by historical American triumphalism.
Please read and think again and again and again about that sentence.
Is it far-fetched thinking to imagine Putin’s anticipation of Trump’s victory laps causing Russia-Ukraine negotiations to veer off course—and keeping missiles flying, bombs exploding, weapons firing, and innocents dying?
Before taking any hubristic victory laps, leaders of any so-called victorious nation must “think to thinkingly think” about historically patient revenge of “the losers.”
Every war’s victory stings everyone—eventually.
Keep watch for victory’s vicissitude.
To think a bit deeper, note the metacognition map pins I stuck in the previous post. You’ll note suspected origins of today’s evidence of evil’s rebirth for each example I offered.
Continually aiming toward better best-effort thinking (BET) is among ways to lastingly honor those whose thinking was stopped by warfare.

Imagine listening to this post without mindfully engaging in #metacognition’s higher-order thinking (HOT).
Metacognitive messages of this concise quality invite and ignite metacognition’s #Sys2Thinking skills.
