Mahir Pandhi has shed light on why Karan Johar's ambitious period drama #Takht never went on floors.
According to the actor, Takht was far from a regular film. Conceived as a dream project with a massive ensemble cast featuring Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor, the film faced major hurdles after the pandemic. Coordinating dates of so many top stars became nearly impossible, while the budget reportedly escalated beyond ₹200 crore, making financing increasingly difficult.
Pandhi also believes that audience preferences have evolved significantly since the film was conceived, and a project like Takht would require a substantial rewrite if revived today.
The shelving of Takht was particularly heartbreaking for him, as being part of a Dharma Productions magnum opus had already started changing how the industry perceived him.
