Hemostatic dressings never enter the eyes, the airway, the chest, or head wounds with exposed brain matter or meninges. #TCERC
To pack a bleeding wound, use direct digital pressure and pack directly to the srouce of bleeding. Pack hard, tight, and full, then apply direct pressure for at least three minutes. If a hemostatic agent is used, it needs to be in contact with the source of bleeding. #TCERC

To control extremity hemorrhage, place a TQ 2-3” proximal to wound (not on joints). If the source of bleeding isn’t visible, go high and tight. The windlass of the TQ needs to be tight to stop venous AND arterial flow. #TCERC
Talk about on-scene hemorrhage control all day, but don’t forget that in an active shooter situation, those with truncal injuries and uncontrolled, non-compressible bleeding need to be prioritized for extrication and transport to an OR. #TCERC
Like TCCC / TECC, medical care in the warm zone of an active shooter incident prioiritizes the major preventable cause of death: hemorrhage. #TCERC
