Steer-by-wire, Experience Details: - When I first heard about steer-by-wire on CT it sounded great, but I couldn’t contextualize the tech into actual driving experience - After a couple hundred miles (I can’t stop driving this truck…) this steer-by-wire system makes you realize how silly mechanical steering actually is.. - Have you ever had a computer mouse not be sensitive enough? So you have to drag it an excessive amount to get the mouse across the screen? That’s what going back to no steer-by-wire feels like to me after a few days of CT. - Why on earth would I want to turn a wheel 2.5x around in either direction if I could accomplish the same thing with a half turn? It takes a very large truck and makes it nimble to a point where it still doesn’t quite make sense. - People can read about it all they want, but it won’t click until you are behind the wheel. Tesla has integrated this tech/feature flawlessly. Not to be overly dramatic, but it’s magical. I’ll do a ‘lesser known’ feature blurb tomorrow !
