Yesterday, while I was heading to report on the ongoing Israeli incursions in the southern border areas, our friend and colleague Laith Marouf, journalist, media law consultant, and founder of FPTV, was with me in the car.
We were stopped by the Lebanese Army at a routine checkpoint. After a respectful and professional exchange, during which we presented our official permits and documents, I was allowed to continue. However, Laith, being a non-Lebanese national, was escorted to Saida to complete a missing document in his file.
Since around 1:00 AM yesterday, I have lost contact with him.
I’m sharing this publicly for the record and to explain Laith’s sudden absence to his followers and colleagues, especially those expecting regular communications or weekly episodes.
Laith is a tireless media activist and advocate for justice, committed to the causes of the peoples of Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and the broader region. He stands firmly against imperialism and neo-colonialism in all its forms. He deserves to be treated with the dignity due to someone who has dedicated his life to the struggle for truth and liberation.
I will continue to share any updates I receive regarding his whereabouts and situation.
