The Annual General Body Meeting of the Traditional and Sports Karate Association ( #TSKA ) Tamilnadu was successfully held yesterday in Chennai, marking a significant milestone in the promotion and unification of karate across the state.
The meeting was gracefully presided over by #Sensei Karate R. #Thiagarajan, esteemed State Secretary of the @BJP4TamilNadu and Patron of the Traditional and Sports Karate Association Tamilnadu.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from district and state-level office bearers of the Traditional and Sports Karate Association Tamilnadu, along with prominent karate officials, Sensei Grand Masters, accomplished male and female champions (Veerar and Veeranganai), academy leaders, and distinguished participants from every corner of Tamil Nadu.
In his inspiring special address, Sensei #KarateRThiagarajan @karatethiagu highlighted that karate athletes exemplify unparalleled discipline and commitment to physical and mental well-being, serving as ideal role models for society at large.
He described karate as a magnificent, time-honored art of self-defense—one that possesses immense potential to safeguard children, students, youth, and women from the dangers of addiction and substance abuse.
He passionately advocated for its widespread promotion and teaching throughout Tamil Nadu, reaching every child, student, young person, and especially women, to foster a healthier, more disciplined generation.
As an immediate priority, he proposed hosting a national-level karate championship in Tamil Nadu to ignite greater interest and participation in this empowering self-defense discipline across the state.
He further called upon Tamil Nadu's karate athletes and referees to increase their presence and excel in national.competitions, thereby establishing the state as a frontrunner in karate self-defense.
#SenseiThiagarajan emphasized the critical need for all karate organizations in Tamil Nadu to unite under the leadership of the Traditional and Sports Karate Association Tamilnadu, working collaboratively to propel the art forward with strength, harmony, and vision.
As a special guest and spokesperson for the Tamil Nadu BJP , I, @ANSPRASADBJP had the privilege of addressing the gathering.
I underscored that the Government of India, under the visionary leadership of @PMOIndia @narendramodi , stands at the forefront of promoting sports and athletic excellence nationwide.
Tamil Nadu holds tremendous potential to lead contributions in karate self-defense—not only within the state but on the national stage.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports stands ready to provide the necessary support, and through collective effort, we can realize this shared aspiration.
The meeting concluded on a poignant note as the assembly paid heartfelt tribute to the late #SureshKalmadi, former President of the #IndianOlympicAssociation.
Gratitude was expressed for his invaluable support during his tenure, when—upon an urgent request from the Tamil Nadu Karate Association, led by Sensei Karate R. Thiagarajan—karate was swiftly included as an event in The National Games held in Guwahati, Assam in 2007 within a limited timeframe.
This timely approval enabled karate competitions to flourish successfully on the continental stage.
