The works to upgrade the Taff Trail route through Hailey Park have been completed. ๐ณ ๐ถ ๐ด ๐
Weโve improved this section of the trail with a wider, safer, and more accessible path that blends into the parkโs natural setting.

Monday morning update from the Taff Trail at Blackweir. Top gate of Bute park locked @cardiffcouncil & loads of mud in tunnel under A48 but otherwise all ok #tafftrail
Radyr weir and the taff trail, Sunday 2pm. At least the tree trunk balancing on top of the weir for the last 5 years has finally gone @ILovesTheDiff @ceritheviking
@cardiffcouncil You're planning on widening andcre-routing the ##TaffTrail right past the children's playground in Hailey Park, increasing the risk of accidents and stopping kids from running free safely. You didn't consult them.
You are reviewing your plans - will you commit to scrapping them?
Welcome to Goldie's Coffi @transport_wales #radyr Station. Do call in and say hello if you are travelling or walking the nearby #Tafftrail
Yesterday I walked from the house to Cardiff Central. The weather forecast wasn't the best but I was determined to do it. This is the furthest I have walked in my adult life. I am very proud of myself and actually looking forward to doing it again. #fitness #walking #tafftrail
@YoungmanMj @DrStefan33 @catherine628851 @ceritheviking @DeAthCardiff The people who use the space/s have the best knowledge on how to solve the problems, but all too often they and their knowledge are overlooked.
The #TaffTrail is already in the park...the current plan does not improve things for park users. Even cyclists aren't in favour of it.
@YoungmanMj @DrStefan33 @catherine628851 @ceritheviking Take the planned reroute of the #TaffTrail in Hailey Park...dominated by the sustainable travel agenda, totally ignoring leisure use & increasing risk by rerouting it past the ๐ซ playground plus net loss of green space. We want an alternative solution-Will @DeAthCardiff๐? 2/2
Hi .@DeAthCardiff @jenburkecdf @DilwarAliLAB @huwthomas_Wales @cardifflabour @WelshLabour Will you be taking a leaf out of Chancellor, @RachelReevesMP book & stop wasting public money on the problematic #TaffTrail reroute in #LlandaffNorth & work with communities to amend plans?
Taff Trail Hailey Park Update July 2024
Back in May, #CardiffCouncil decided to press ahead with their controversial plan to change the #TaffTrail in #HaileyPark.
Works were due to start in August, but the council has had a change of heart:

@cardiffcouncil @ChildFriendlyC1 Mmm...yet you didn't consult with children when planning to reroute and widen the #TaffTrail past the playground in Hailey Park. Thankfully, at full council lastnight, @DeAthCardiff announced a review of the project. Hopefully this will now include children's voices.

@cardiffcouncil Don't waste the ยฃ750,000 on rerouting the ##TaffTrail past the children's playground in Hailey Park.
> Net loss of green space ๐
> Dangerous for children ๐
> Park users & cyclists don't want it ๐
> Waste of public money ๐

@Michell43749136 @WillHayCardiff @colvelindre @theWCRC @VelindreCC @VelindreTrust And why he's overseeing ยฃ750,000 of @WelshGovernment money being wasted on a cycle path that park users and cyclists don't want rerouting the #TaffTrail past the children's playground in Hailey Park. I wish somebody in @WelshLabour or @UKLabour would actually represent our views!
@FenellaBowden I'm not convinced McMorrin is even up to that...she's failed to deliver for constituents on Hailey Park. She has a chance to deliver on the #TaffTrail reroute - let's wait and see...
If ur serious about protecting our parks, then work with the #LlandaffNorth community to revisit your plans to reroute the #TaffTrail through it,
1. past the children's playground ๐
2. Net loss of green space ๐
3. Not wanted by locals or cyclists ๐
4. Wate of public money ๐
An eight-week public consultation on plans to protect 11 parks in Cardiff with @fieldsintrust to ensure they remain publicly accessible green spaces, has been launched.
Find out more, including how you can have your say on the plans, here: https://t.co/HFr6i1xmLD

Hey @huwthomas_Wales...Will you take a leaf from @Keir_Starmer and commit to serving our Llandaff North community & work with us to come up with a better solution to the ##TaffTrail upgrade past the children's playground? It's a comparatively small ask.
@NationCymru @WalesOnline
Keir Starmer speaks directly to people who did not vote Labour: "My government will serve you... that is how we will govern, country first, not party"
Labour can't even stop a sewage pumping station being built on the land they are custodians for.
Let's see...they've an opportunity to stop rerouting of the ##TaffTrail past the kids playground in Hailey Park & work with the community 4 an alternative. Will you @huwthomas_Wales
