คุณแก็ปเปิดว่า สำหรับวันนี้อยากจะขอหยิบทักษะที่เป็น Human ที่สุดทักษะหนึ่ง ที่มีความสำคัญในการทำอะไรต่าง ๆ ที่เป็นดิจิทัล ซึ่งก็คือทักษะที่สำคัญอย่าง Empathy

ทักษะ Empathy ถ้าแปลเป็นไทยง่ายๆก็คือ ความเข้าอกเข้าใจคนอื่น มักจะมากับอีกคำ คือคำว่า Sympathy ความเห็นอกเห็นใจ อยากจะช่วยเหลือเขา สองคำนี้ต่างกันตรงที่การมี Empathy จะทำให้เรา "เก่งขึ้น" ในขณะที่การมี Sympathy จะทำให้เราเป็น "คนดีขึ้น"

ทำไมเราถึงควรเข้าอกเข้าใจคนอื่น?
เพราะถ้าเราเข้าใจคนอื่นๆ จะทำให้เราทำงานร่วมกันได้ดีขึ้น หรือถ้าเราเข้าใจครอบครัว ก็ทำให้ชีวิตเราดีขึ้น เป็นต้น ซึ่งคุณแก็ปเล่าไว้ว่าเราสามารถฝึกการมีทักษะ Empathy ที่ดีในชีวิตประจำวันได้ ผ่านการทำ 5 อย่างนี้

คุณแก็ปเล่าต่อว่า ในมุมของการมี Empathyในการสร้าง Product ถือเป็นพรสวรรค์ (Gift) อย่างนึง บางคนเก่งมากเข้าใจลูกค้า สามารถเปิดร้านกาแฟ หรือขายของออนไลน์ แล้วประสบความสำเร็จลูกค้ารักเลยตั้งแต่แรก (หายากมาก) แต่ยังไงก็ตาม Empathy ก็เป็นทักษะที่เรียนรู้ (Learnable Skill) และฝึกฝนในการเข้าใจลูกค้าหรือผู้ใช้งานได้

ในแง่ของการสร้าง Product การมี Empathy จะช่วยให้เราเข้าใจลูกค้ามากขึ้น ลูกค้ารักคุณมากขึ้น ทำให้เราแตกต่างจากคนอื่น อาจจะแตกต่างจากคู่แข่งหรือทำให้คุณเด่นกว่าได้ ซึ่งสาเหตุที่ต้อง Empathy เพราะคนเรามักคิดว่าเรารู้ดีว่าลูกค้าของเราหน้าตาเป็นอย่างไร แต่จากประสบการณ์บอกได้เลยว่า จริงๆเราไม่เข้าใจหรอก เพราะทุกครั้งที่หาข้อมูลเพิ่ม เราจะค้นพบว่าเราไม่ค่อยรู้จักลูกค้าเลย

📌 คุณแก็ปยกตัวอย่าง Bloomberg Terminal ที่เป็นคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ขายพร้อมโปรแกรมสำหรับวิเคราะห์การเงิน ตอนปี 2007 มีบริษัท IDEO ได้ลองออกแบบใหม่แล้วไปลองวางขายดู มีการปรับให้ทุกอย่างหาง่ายขึ้น ใช้ง่ายขึ้น แต่ผลลัพท์พอทำออกมาขาย ไม่มีใครซื้อเลย เพราะคนที่ใช้บอกว่า ใช้ง่ายกว่าก็จริง แต่แบบเก่าเท่กว่า เพราะใช้ยาก คนใช้ได้คือคนเก่ง ทำอะไรยากๆ ได้ การมี Bloomberg Terminal จึงถือเป็น Status Symbol การออกแบบให้ใช้งานง่ายขึ้นจึงไม่ได้รับความนิยม

สุดท้ายนี้คุณแก็ปได้ฝากไว้ว่า สิ่งแรกที่ควรทำเพื่อเข้าใจลูกค้า คือ “ลองทำตัวเป็นลูกค้า” และต้อง “ออกไป” หาคนจริง ๆ โดยไปสัมภาษณ์ ไปสังเกตการณ์ เก็บข้อมูล รีวิวต่างๆ ซึ่งต้องอาศัยทักษะการสังเกต การฟัง การตระหนักรู้ตัวเอง การถามคำถาม และการใฝ่รู้ที่ฝึกได้ในชีวิตประจำวัน
