1/ Wheels vs tracks: a short series of threads on relative merits of each, continuing with one on the ability to negotiate obstacles. TLDR: tracks are generally better at obstacle negotiation whether natural or man made.

The T-80 tank was accepted into service #OTD in 1942. It was an improvement over the T-70B, but due to the changing role of the light tank on the battlefield very few were actually produced. #tanks #history #WW2

The Medium Tank M4A3E2 was a tremendous success, and the question of a similarly up-armoured variant of the Pershing was raised #OTD in 1944. The resulting tank called T26E5 was completely proofed against the 88 mm L/71 gun at a weight of just 46 tons. #tanks #history #WW2
