#TataUpdate Fresh legal notice sent to Sir Ratan Tata trust, one of the key Trusts that control Tata Sons raising fresh concerns on the Trust’s board composition Notice Reiterates concerns of violations of Section 30A(2) of the Maharashtra Public Trusts Act, 1950, by the Sir Ratan Tata Trust. Notice says the Trust presently has six (6) Trustees, out of which three (3) are functioning as perpetual/lifetime Trustees. This constitutes 50% of the Board, which is in direct contravention of the statutory mandate Alert : Section 30A(2) of the Maharashtra Public Trusts Act, 1950 says the number of perpetual trustees “shall not exceed one-fourth of the total number of trustees.” Notice says The continuation of the present Board composition is illegal Composition of present board defeats the legislative intent of preventing entrenchment of a small group of lifetime trustees and ensuring greater accountability in the management of public charitable trusts. #TataUpdate The board of Bai Hirabai Trust approved moving an amendment to the eligibility clause of the Bai Hirabai Trust deed under the leadership of #NoelTata Amendment to remove restrictive clauses that allowed only Zoroastrians to be trustees. The Bai hirabai Trust deed was drawn up in 1923 Since 2000 non Zoroastrians have been on the board following legal opinion sought by #RatanTata Former Tata Sons veteran R Krishnakumar was on the board.
