One of the things I really like about Calcite is how weird it is. You see, Calcite can have a variable amount of Mg in it, and that amount varies by rate, but also what else is around, which could lead to some other interactions...

Today is calcite day. Such a comum mineral, but so important in the azorian geothermal fields. When drilling, If it appears with a couple of friends, watch out you will target the reservoir pretty soon.

@MineralCup Last Sunday visiting my parents I found this large #Calcite crystal over white amethist from Artigas locality in Uruguay (home of the best ammethists in the world).

@MineralCup Calcite has so many uses and forms such beautiful crystals! Birefringence that spawned an entire Geologic field of study. It’s diagnostic of Limestone when you drip just a little HCl on it. And did I mention the crystals? Obviously #TeamCalcite on this one.
