Three years ago today, I was inaugurated as Maryland's 34th Comptroller. I'm amazed at all we have accomplished together in that time, and so grateful for the dedicated members of #TeamComptroller who help push our work forward every day. There is still work to be done - onwards!
The Superheros of #TeamComptroller had a busy day working as “Refund Rangers” connecting with leaders across the state at @MDCounties Summer Conference today!
In addition resource sharing, our Chief Deputy Comptroller Andrew Schaufele spoke to budget officers and County administrators during a session “Two Sides, Same Coin.” He shared how our office processes, collects,and distributes tax revenue, and discussed how aggregate behavior changes in income tax filing can significantly change total revenue collected and local income tax distributed to Maryland Counties.
#TeamComptroller will be in the community tomorrow night! We will be engaging with community partners and local law enforcement to celebrate National Night Out.

In celebration of Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month, we are featuring Maria Robalino, Deputy Comptroller of Public Engagement and Communications and #TeamComptroller's highest ranking Latina! Deputy Comptroller Robalino hails from Ecuador and made Maryland her home in 2015. In previous roles, she has led national high-impact legislative issue advocacy campaigns for criminal justice and immigration reform for the American Labor Movement. She also led several national campaigns for financial reform and consumer protection. At #TeamComptroller, she helps lead high-performing public engagement and communications teams and helps execute the Comptroller's strategic goals for public outreach and communications!
Take a Look with Brooke today in Somerset County! #TeamComptroller toured the @UMESNews Extension Research and Education Farm to learn about their work as a resource to enhance the economic wellbeing of farmers and ended at the Crab Pickers Strike Historical marker at the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Crisfield to see Pastor Emanuel Johnson's work in creating this mark to commemorate the organizing and struggle of 600 Black women.

Take a Look with Brooke today in Mountain Maryland! #TeamComptroller started the day at one of Garrett County's newest business openings Brewery and the Beast! Next, the team visited Beitzel Corporation and help celebrate their 50th year in business! Then the team headed to Allegany County to visit Grow West, see #TeamComptroller's Cumberland Branch Office, and tour the Baltimore Street Revitalization Project. Since since the revitalization project started, 12 businesses have relocated to the Baltimore Street corridor! Don't forget - Queen City Scoops' name of the day is "BROOKE."
