For courts in @followlasg, cases which don't require #OralEvidence can now be conducted by #RemoteJustice or #DigitalJustice.

Many thanks to you Prof @ChidiOdinkalu for your most informed insights. I followed through the entire session. I believe that with positive mindset of the players, #TechWithJustice will be a worthy journey for the #Nigerian Legal System.
Thank u so much @citizen_gavel for having us. I like to look at #TechWithJustice as a journey rather than a destination. There'll be #FalseStarts in some places as well as #MissedOpportunities. Bringing a #LearningMindset to the process is vital though
Thank you @citizen_gavel for having us. May this engagement lead us to courts of Law that are the same as courts of justice.#TechWithJustice
Obviously, the judiciary doesn't have to replicate the rigging model of @NigBarAssoc because bringing that to legal proceedings & court administration will defeat the entire goal of #TechWithJustice & make what happens in the Bar look less than #ChoirPractice. Thx lots
A little over 10 yrs ago, I led advocacy for @NigBarAssoc to adopt #techsolution for its elections. The 2 elections organized under that system since 2016 have bn massively rigged. So, tech solution there has bn a bit of a #FalseDawn but all hope is not lost.

#TechWithJustice requires a transition from analogue to digital. This is not a reality for many citizens and their lawyers. We can hence invest in tech that ensures transparency in courts.Litigants should be able to report in real time acts of corruption by the click of a button.
Question 6:
With this pandemic a new norm is created- what tech with justice changes would you like to keep seeing post covid19 ? @ChidiOdinkalu @GMabeiam @InnojusticeWA

Given this, I'm not quite sure I entirely agree a new norm has bn created. What #COVID19 has done is remove the blinkers that have precluded #Nigerian judges from seeing the obvious. Now what we need to do is use this moment to teach take them on a journey of #TechWithJustice.
Traditionally, #JudicialIndependence was seen as #IndependenceFromIdeas or from learning. #COVID19 has radically altered our comfort levels & shown everyone, including judges, why & how learning is a #LifeLong experience intrinsically & functionally

Question 6:
With this pandemic a new norm is created- what tech with justice changes would you like to keep seeing post covid19 ? @ChidiOdinkalu @GMabeiam @InnojusticeWA

Evidence is the 23rd item on the exclusive legislative list so are legal proceedings, service and execution of orders, judgments and decrees nissi & absolute which are the 35th & 57th items respectively. That puts it outside the influence of the private sector.#TechWithJustice
Question 5: If the government is not ready to lead #TechWithJustice revolution- can citizens do something about it? @ChidiOdinkalu @GMabeiam @InnojusticeWA

There's a lot more citizens can do, for sure, especially in mediating access to judicial content. Much of that will be easier if the judges were more willing. But in the end, the courts themselves will need also to have their own #TechWithJustice channels, so citizens complement
Citizen grps like @citizen_gavel are already showing what is possible with things like the #PODUS app, which is the @Uber of #ProBono lawyering. #PrivateSector have also made Law reporting TechCompliant, reducing the time it takes not to do #LegalResearch.

In Lagos, for instance, there is a criminal justice information system that links the prosecutors with @PoliceNG & @CorrectionsNg & is available to provide #EndUser service for #TechWithJustice. But the Court system is still not fully equipped to run on tech solutions as such
Let's no forget, govt is a vast & disaggregated beast. @followlasg has bn grappling with this problem of #TechWithJustice since @ProfOsinbajo was their #AttorneyGeneral over 20 yrs ago. They have bn evolving incrementally. Some other states are #arrivistes. All are welcome.
Question 5: If the government is not ready to lead #TechWithJustice revolution- can citizens do something about it? @ChidiOdinkalu @GMabeiam @InnojusticeWA

I hasten to add that even now, we can be innovative with what we have and what reflects our reality. Judges for instance can dispose of judgments and rulings during this period so case logs are reduced post Covid-19.#TechWithJustice
Question 4: Besides the remote Court system, what other tech solutions would you like to see introduced to the justice delivery process in Nigeria? @GMabeiam @InnojusticeWA @ChidiOdinkalu

With poor connectivity, limited skills for many aged or rural-based lawyers, priority should be enhancing justice through d safe & familiar then ensuring we have broadband & ramped up skills that enable us fit into d 21st century without sticking out as sore thumbs.#TechWithJustice
Question 4: Besides the remote Court system, what other tech solutions would you like to see introduced to the justice delivery process in Nigeria? @GMabeiam @InnojusticeWA @ChidiOdinkalu

@citizen_gavel @GMabeiam @InnojusticeWA Solutions have to take in all of the justice system. So u need to integrate information & processes with @CorrectionsNg, for e.g. Part of our problem historically is these things are seen as #ContractSilos that are not #InterOperable. That needs to change

Question 5: If the government is not ready to lead #TechWithJustice revolution- can citizens do something about it? @ChidiOdinkalu @GMabeiam @InnojusticeWA

We therefore cannot value the process more than the outcome. What's the outcome?Justice. This conversation therefore needs to factor in the litigant and lawyer at the far end because no one learns or knows more about a problem than the one at d bottom of d ladder.#TechWithJustice
Question 4: Besides the remote Court system, what other tech solutions would you like to see introduced to the justice delivery process in Nigeria? @GMabeiam @InnojusticeWA @ChidiOdinkalu

@citizen_gavel @GMabeiam @InnojusticeWA That means that I our solutions can't be hypothetical. There is here actually a huge opportunity for #Nigeria's #TechSector to be given the chance to prove itself in designing solutions that respond to our challenges. But the question is will they get it?
