We must be clear-eyed:
Rassemblement national, AfD, Konfederacja…
Different names - but all the same.
They are Putin's puppets and proxies and they are trampling on our values.
We will not let them destroy what we have built together.

🇬🇧The importance of the terrorist content online regulation #TERREG was hyped at the time, but with less than 400 removal orders and hardly any cross-border removal orders I can’t see this regulation having a significant impact on the thosands of pieces of propaganda online.
Where videos of interest are removed, they reappear elsewhere, e.g. on Telegram, and readers are pushed to channels which bring them even closer to terrorist networks. There were also false removal orders on non-terrorist propaganda.
Thus piecemeal content removals aren’t the key to countering terrorist propaganda online. It’s much more effective to use fact-checking, testimonies by drop-out former members who have quit, and information and support to those supporters who may yet want to quit.

🇬🇧Civil society takes #TERREG to court

To address the dissemination of terrorist content online, this EU law empowers any EU police to censor what you post online without court order. The timeframe is so short it risks the censorship of legitimate content
🇩🇪 Super: Zivilgesellschaft zieht gegen #TERREG vor Gericht!
https://t.co/TinEyc3hmh
Automated #AI based content moderation, account suspention is the "worst of both worlds" as it risks #overblocking of legitimate content/users.
Still the #EU makes it almost a mandarory practice with #DSA #Terreg and #Chatcontrol

ARTICLE 19 Europe & Central Asia's account on X was suspended last night. @article19europe
We did not receive an explanation regarding how our activity on the platform allegedly violated the rules. There was no prior warning to indicate that such a serious step was being considered.
Defending freedom of expression online is one of the fundamental pillars of our work. In our long-term advocacy, we have consistently emphasized the importance of platform transparency and have sounded the alarm about arbitrary content removal and the lack of due process.
Now, we are facing similar challenges to the ones we have long been addressing. This is a highly concerning development, and we are calling directly on @X for an explanation and immediate reinstatement of our account. @Support

“The question of online content moderation is a serious one, and the answer cannot be a simplistic but dangerous techno-solutionist police censorship."
@Conseil_Etat must request a preliminray rulling from @EUCourtPress on #TERREG's validity.

⚖️ECNL joins the NGO coalition led by @laquadrature in a complaint against EU's terrorist content regulation.
We argue that #TERREG violates the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and ask Conseil d'Etat to request @EUCourtPress to issue a preliminary ruling.
Under the EU's terrorist content regulation, law enforcement can decide what can be said online, without prior judicial review. #FreedomOfExpression
ECNL joins @laquadrature, @accessnow, @article19org, @edri & @Wikimedia_Fr to challenge #TERREG in court.
