Acknowledging the "killing squads" & "torture camps" of R Premadasa era is not "attacking Premadasa". One doesn't need to be a NPP fan to acknowledge extra judicial killings done by an executive president.
The "rule of fear" was known & is a fact.

History and morality are both messy.
The purists attacking Premadasa while supporting the JVP backed NPP is kind of funny.
Premadasa was an insecure man who attacked anyone he perceived as a threat to his power but also gave millions of people some dignity through employment and housing.
This could also explain the base that junior has because his dad's picture still hangs prominently in many households throughout the country.
Attacking Premadasa is going to put some NPP fans/activists in a very uncomfortable position.

If this is the kind of leadership the SJB wants to glorify, count me out.
Ranasinghe Premadasa’s legacy, is mediocre at best and authoritarian at worst. As a person, he comes off unhinged and brutal. His policy outcomes speak for themselves: mediocre. Watching SJB reps clap for that mediocrity just to build some liberalization legacy for Sajith? Embarrassing and cringe.
If they were smart, they would focus on how Sajith *differs* from his father - not revisionist praise of a flawed legacy.
If mediocre is the bar, count me out.
