Obviously they know I'm Muslim; we never cut ties w/ one another. I still say their titles out of respect, not b/c I believe they're my godparents via the Church. Anywho, I remember way back when I tried calling them by something different...& it was weird. 😐 #ThatConvertLife

When someone converts to Islām, their sins are forgiven, their slates are wiped clean, they get to start afresh. That does NOT mean their whole personality, where they come from, who they are is also erased. #ThatConvertLife

Today in #ThatConvertLife - I had some ginger beers (among other beverages) laid out for some out-of-town guests. (If you're Caribbean, you know about that life.) Now, I know that as Muslims being scrupulous is important especially when it comes to food & drink,

Just say "to Allāh we belong & to Allāh we return." Every mind, body, & soul was fashioned by Allāh. Don't be awkward & uncouth to a grieving person when a dear loved one departs from this world. ʾinnā li-llāhi wa ʾinnā ilay-hi rājiʿūn #ThatConvertLife #GriefNeverGoesAway

When the Muslim guy on "Ramy" said salams, got cussed out in Spanish, and basically was accused of being an undercover agent because he's Dominican(!) that stuff happens to converts ALL. THE. TIME. Frfr. As if being Latinx and Muslim are mutually exclusive. #ThatConvertLife
