Yeah! #Professionals just show up on Monday as if ‘nothing happened over the weekend.’ There’s something not quite right with that, if you should ask me, hence my total belief in Bill George’s assertion of #theintegratedlife as a key construct in #AuthenticLeadership. What a week(end) this last one was! My family and I found ourselves literally teetering between life and death; the living and the dead! I had elected not to travel (again) for The HuD Group Global’s in-person, annual November-ending #CEOsConfab (Nov 27-29) in order to be around in #Accra to support my dad as she buried his only older sister over the Nov 28-29 weekend. When she was first reported lifeless one odd Saturday morning a few weeks ago, the old boy had called me to go check out the situation as he was en route to another funeral and was already around Koforidua, a two-hour trip away. Needless to say, when I arrived, I didn’t even need my #doctor skills to certify that Aunt Doreen had given up the ghost. Again, needless to say, the old boy turned around, Accra-bound. Considering how distraught he looked when I had prepared and brought my aunt’s body to the 37 Military Hospital (my former place of work) and had asked him to come and take a last look at her, I just knew it would be wise to be around for this weekend. To be home for him. After all, family is ministry; in fact, our #first ministry. And so! I returned from my weeklong assignment in Abuja, Nigeria last Monday (Nov 24), gearing up for the now-online #CEOs #Confab and the family funeral, only for my own mother to also get admitted to hospital the next day! What a week(end)! Glory to God that the old professor was discharged today after a cardiac procedure and all. That she walked into the small Legon Hospital and walked out of the big Legon Hospital (UGMC) is a huge testimony as right before our eyes a younger family friend who was at the initial ER with her never made it out alive! 💔 (May she rest in peace and her family be deeply comforted 🙏🏾) That between Tuesday and today has been a torturous teetering between life and death, the living and the dead, is no joke. Über grateful to God that finally, “all’s well that ends well.” Aunt Doreen is home (celestial) and O Ma is home (earthly). Shacks! One of those weeks! In all things we give thanks and glorify God! 🙏🏾 And a huge heart of gratitude to all my medical colleagues who showed up strong for us! Now, let’s see how we—my siblings and I—show up on Monday! @perbiexecutive @Perbifamily
