A 92-year-old North Carolina man got so bored 2 months into retirement that he applied to work at Chick-fil-A...
...his smile, kindness, and passion for Jesus became so contagious that when he got sick and missed 3 days of work, an ENTIRE TOWN began asking where he was.
His name is Gilbert Martin.
Everybody calls him "Mr. Gil."
Mr. Gil is 92 years old, and works at the Chick-fil-A on Oleander Drive in Wilmington, NC.
He spent decades working in the natural gas industry and when he retired, he greeted people at Sam's Club for 12 MORE years, until they eliminated his position.
Most people would call that a sign to finally rest, but not Mr. Gil!
Two months into retirement, he got bored... so he walked into Chick-fil-A and put in an application.
He was 86 years old at the time.
He's been there ever since.
Not one or two shifts a week either. Monday through Friday.
He says the full schedule gives him more chances to be there for people who need him.
His official job is dining host.
Clean tables.
Clean floors.
But Mr Gil doesn't see it that way... as he describes it, his real job is:
"I get a lot of people that are coming in, just been to the doctor, and got bad news... I'm able to be an encourager; the Lord gave me that."
A 92-year-old man who could be resting at home... chooses to stand in a dining room five days a week... so strangers on the worst day of their lives don't have to be alone.
And Wilmington noticed.
When Mr. Gil caught a cold and missed a couple of days, the owner said he was FLOODED with HUNDREDS of customers who were panicked about him.
Mr. Gil has zero plans to retire.
He says if you ever see him working, come say hi.
"I don't know what 92 is supposed to feel like, but I feel great. Serving others has always brought me joy because I believe that a smile and a kind word can make someone's day a little brighter.โ

Two 13-year-old boys on a summer bike ride spotted something in a yard and turned around...
...what they was found an elderly woman who had been trapped on the ground for 16 HOURS, and they SAVED HER LIFE!!!
No phone. No water. All night in the dark.
They called 911 and saved her life, medics said that had only a few more hours gone by, she'd have been gone.
This is Fruitland, Iowa.
Gunner Skidmore and Kohen Chick, both 13, best friends.
They were pedaling toward Muscatine when Kohen said, "You see that lady back there?"
Gunner didn't, but they turned around anyway.
It took them a while to even find her, but then eventually came upon an elderly neighbor, lying in the grass.
She'd fallen feeding her horse at 5 p.m... THE DAY BEFORE.
All night on the ground.
No phone.
No water.
Covered in bugs.
She had dragged and rolled herself from the backyard to the front yard, praying somebody passing by would see her.
Somebody did. Two somebodies. On bikes.
"Hey ma'am, are you OK?"
"I need help. Call 911."
They did and the ambulance came, and she's getting the care she needs.
...but they didn't just save her life, they also made a new best friend!
Gunner's mama has been going over to feed and water that woman's horse every single day while she recovers and she brought her lasagna when she got back home.
The next generation isn't lost, folks.
Some of them are out here being the answer to an old woman's prayers on a Tuesday morning.

A 4-year-old boy whose father left him, stood outside every single day for months waving at strangers... just hoping somebody would say hi back, in North Carolina.
Then one neighbor walked across the street to meet him.
Now an ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD shows up for his soccer games, his swim lessons, his birthday parties.
Roman Butzlaff is 4 years old, from Concord NC, just outside Charlotte.
His mom says he wakes up every single morning excited to say "hi" to somebody. It's the very first thing he wants to do.
But behind that big smile was a hurting little heart. His parents split about a year ago and his dad moved away.
Then a neighbor named Wade Fulgum did the simplest, most powerful thing in the world.
He just walked across the street... and met the little boy who was always waving at him.
And it spread.
Now about a DOZEN neighbors, people who barely knew each other's names, show up for Roman's soccer games.
His basketball games. His swimming lessons. Even his preschool open house. His birthday party guest list was basically a map of the block.
One neighbor said it best: "If the world was like this child, what an awesome, awesome place it would be."
๐จ#BREAKING: Firefighters in Wisconsin are hailing 5 teenage boys as HEROES after they BUSTED DOWN A DOOR TO A BURNING HOME to save a 91-year-old elderly couple and their family on July 4th.
When firefighters arrived, they discovered the boys had already rescued ALL SIX PEOPLE inside the home.
According to investigators, the boys noticed what they thought was a bonfire from their home.
As they walked closer, they saw a home was on fire and started banging on the doors and windows and heard people yelling.
The group of boys BROKE DOWN THE DOOR, ran into the home, called out for the victims and rescued all them.
โWe started calling out for people and asking if anybody was in there. And then we ended up getting quite a bit of responses. There ended up being five or six people in the house..."
"...you are kind of just feeling around, yelling, and then I heard a couple in the room on the left. So I went in there and got them out."
As the last person stepped out of the home, the flames intensified.

I am a union hvac journeyman mechanic. That includes:
-6 figures
-health insurance for me and the whole family
-dental, vision, for me and the whole family
-a brand new truck that I drive home daily for free, full of gas I never pay for. Full of tools I donโt pay for. And if anything breaks on the truck, I donโt pay to fix it. Oil changes, tires, etc, etc.
-a company phone
-a pension
-an annuity, separate from the pension.
-guaranteed yearly raises through the union.
-work all lined up for me, waiting every morning for me.
-I never do business taxes (I have and it sucks)
-I never work holidays (minus pulling the on-call shift).
-two weeks paid vacation per year.
-I golf every week
-I am a landowner and homeowner on acreage.
-We can afford for my wife to be a stay at home mother and homeschool teacher.
It could be worse. Many people are not nearly as well off as we are, and Iโm sure some are doing much better.
But, life is really gravy. Yes itโs hard work. But if you need to steer a young man, trades work can be life on easy street.

Ran a call on a child. When I got there two cops were doing CPR for twenty minutes before we finally were able to make it to the scene. Long ways away from us. The little one was blue. No pulse. Me and my partner went to work. No fire dept on scene able to help. No additional volunteers available. Just a couple of good cops doing their best at CPR. We Worked on scene for another ten minutes or so. The little one remained flat line. No pulse. Picked them up and moved to our ambulance, after I got meds administered. We had a long transport to closest appropriate facility. So I elected to load and go, to work en-route. Thankfully one of the cops agreed to ride with me and help. The extra set of hands is always greatly appreciated. After about ten minutes into the trip to the ER the little one was still flat line. I looked at the cop and said Iโve done all I can do here. Iโd already done the advanced skills that could be done. I said to the cop, while I was breathing for the patient. โDo you believe in God?โ He said โI do.โ I said โlay your other hand on them.โ He did it immediately. CPR with one hand, prayer hand now in use as well. No hesitation!
I could see the intensity, and purpose in the officers posture as I prayed out loud. I finished the prayer. Did another rhythm check, and within seconds the little oneโs heart started beating.
I donโt know what ended up happening long term, but I know when we left the ER that little child of God was alive.
Prayer is underrated by most of humanity. If you have a loved one that is sick, injured, or in need of Gods authority. Lay hands on them. Pray out loud to our Father. For It is written, and sealed by the ever lasting love of our One true God!
