Ahead of the full commissioning of🇭🇰@hkairport’s 3️⃣RUNWAY SYSTEM on NOV 28—our📍Airport Dist./PTU/Key Points & Search Div. combed thru the newly reconfigured CENTRE RUNWAY🛫& its support facilities with #AirportAuthority & #AviationSecurity Co., Ltd. on NOV 2 to eliminate all 🚫restricted/ ⚠️dangerous items, with a view to ensuring the runway’s integrity in preparation for the milestone in the city’s aviation development🇭🇰✈️

The full commissioning of the #ThreeRunwaySystem (#3RS) at the 🇭🇰#HKInternationalAirport✈️ has ushered in the simultaneous operations of its 3 constituent runways.
While all of the 3 runways are capable of handling takeoffs and landings, in order to achieve optimal efficiency, each of them is respectively in charge of:
NORTH runway—landings🛬
CENTRE runway—takeoffs🛫
SOUTH runway—both landings🛬 & takeoffs🛫

The new runway has been working for a while -- we landed on it in the video below from 2023. But as soon as it opened the middle runway was closed for updates. This week celebrated that rwy's reopening
